The Charmeur tulip lives up to its name with elegantly cupped blooms and soft, romantic coloring that brightens beds, borders, and spring containers. Plant the bulbs in fall, about 6–8 weeks before the ground freezes. Choose a sunny spot with well‑drained soil; amend heavy clay with compost and grit to prevent soggy roots. Set bulbs 6–8 inches deep, points up, and space 4–5 inches apart. Water once after planting, then let winter moisture do the rest. In spring, keep soil moderately moist during active growth. Deadhead spent flowers but allow foliage to photosynthesize until it yellows naturally—those leaves fuel next year’s display. For best perennial performance, provide summer‑dry conditions or lift and store bulbs after foliage dies back. Charmeur makes excellent cut flowers; harvest when buds are colored but not fully open. Pair with muscari, violas, or forget‑me‑nots for a layered tapestry. Guard bulbs from squirrels with wire mesh. In zones 3–8, bulbs need 12–14 weeks of chill; prechill in warmer climates.
