Morning light miscanthus

Morning Light miscanthus (Miscanthus sinensis ‘Morning Light’) is a standout ornamental grass that brings shimmering texture and gentle movement to the garden. Its fine, arching blades are delicately edged in creamy white, creating a cool, silvery haze that seems to glow at sunrise and sunset. Forming an elegant vase-to-fountain shape, it reaches about 4–6 feet in bloom and stays tidy, perfect for borders, island beds, or as a low‑maintenance focal point. Plant in full sun and well‑drained soil; average fertility is best—overly rich sites can cause flopping. Once established, it is drought tolerant, deer resistant, and largely pest free. In late summer to early fall, airy copper‑tinted plumes rise above the foliage, aging to warm tan and holding through winter for four‑season interest. Leave the clump standing for wildlife cover and winter beauty, then cut back to 6–8 inches in late winter before new growth emerges. Divide every 4–5 years to renew vigor. Hardy in USDA zones 5–9, it’s a luminous partner for coneflowers, sedums, asters, roses, and salvias.
